SDL 1.0 Release & Other Updates

Hi Folks,

SDL for Java 1.0 has been released:
http://sdl.ikayzo.org/docs/display/sdl/downloads

SDL for .NET 1.0 will follow shortly.

This release includes a few bug fixes, an update to the definition of
identifiers (which allows periods after the first character), and
documentation updates.

SDL is now in use on a number of projects including a Swing binding
framework for a large bank. I've received a number of emails from happy
users.

My main objectives for 2.0 are:
- Introduction of SDLS (SDL Schema)
- Introduction of refs (allowing SDL files to reference other SDL files)

I'm also thinking of submitting SDL to the JCP. I've seen some proposals
for integration of XML literals into the Java 7 language which
looked...eh...unholy. I think SDL would be a much more natural fit.

Finally, I hope to put up Japanese documentation for SDL in the near future.

Let me know if you have any questions, comments, or creative insults :-) As
always, I am looking for others to contribute to SDL 2.0, implement the API
in other languages (I'm especially interested in C++, Python, and Ruby),
contribute to the documentation (including translations to other languages),
provide examples, and use SDL in their projects.

Happy holidays!

Take care,
Dan

BTW - I did a backport of SDL to 1.4 for one of my current projects. If
anyone is interested in the backport, let me know.
